iPhone 17 Series to Feature Increased RAM in Most Models, Leak Suggests
According to a new leak from Fixed Focus Digital, a source with a large following on Chinese social media platform Weibo, three out of four iPhone 17 models will come with increased RAM compared to their iPhone 16 predecessors. The iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max are all expected to ship with 12GB of RAM, while the base iPhone 17 will continue to feature 8GB, just like all models in the iPhone 16 lineup. Fixed Focus Digital previously revealed accurate details about the iPhone 16e, lending some credibility to this new information, although their overall track record remains limited. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had also reported in April that these higher-end iPhone 17 models would likely get 12GB RAM, though he remained uncertain about the base model due to possible RAM supply constraints. For comparison, all iPhone 16 models—including the Pro and Pro Max—have 8GB of RAM. If the leak proves accurate, this would mark a notable hardware improvement, particularly for Apple’s higher-end devices, potentially supporting better multitasking and preparing for future features such as on-device AI. However, some users in the community have expressed skepticism, questioning whether the upgrade is enough or timely, especially amid growing expectations for AI capabilities.
