Tanzania Telcos Show Strong Performance in Service Standards, Says Regulator
According to the latest report from the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), most telecom service providers in Tanzania are doing well when it comes to quality of service. The report, which covered the last quarter of 2025, showed that all five major mobile operators met the required standards in key areas like network availability, call connection success, and mobile data services. Consumers can now expect more reliable calls and internet access across the country. The study also looked into SMS delivery time, call setup time, and overall voice service quality, with all operators scoring above 90% on evaluated metrics. However, the report also highlighted gaps in the broadcasting sector. Many TV and radio stations did not fully follow their approved schedules, although most complied with requirements for educational content and daily news coverage. TCRA Director-General, Mr. Jabiri Bakari, stressed that the authority will continue taking action against any operators or broadcasters who fail to meet required standards. Overall, the report reflects progress in telecommunications but points out areas in broadcasting that need more attention and regulation.
