Google Enhances Workspace with AI for Smarter Email, Video, and Document Tools

Google LLC has introduced a wide range of new AI-powered features to its Google Workspace suite, aiming to boost user productivity through smarter automation. Announced at the 2025 Google I/O developer event, these updates span across Gmail, Google Docs, Meet, Vids, and other services.

A major highlight is the improved capabilities of Gemini, Google’s AI assistant. In Gmail, Gemini can now compose email replies using content from Google Drive, like Docs or Sheets, while maintaining the user’s usual tone. It can also help schedule meetings by sharing booking links via email threads. Additionally, users can manage their inboxes with simple natural language prompts like deleting all unread emails from specific senders.

In Google Docs, a new feature called source-grounded writing ensures AI suggestions are based strictly on user-provided sources such as linked spreadsheets. Google Meet gains near real-time translation with voice preservation, though this is initially for consumer users only.

Google Vids has been updated to turn slideshows into narrated videos with AI-generated voiceovers. It can also clean up audio and insert avatars. Meanwhile, the updated Imagen 4 model enables faster, higher-resolution AI-generated images for creative and design tasks, and is now integrated across Workspace tools.

Most features will roll out starting in June, with some available today.
